THE TWOFOLD PARADOX

PICTURES: ZE DI PAIVA / DIETER HARTWIG

THE TWOFOLD PARADOX  is a dance duet that translates cinematographic working methods and processes into the stage. By means of movement, voice, sound, and light, unrelated sequences are presented, which are intended to encourage the audience to make chains of associations in a kind of bizarre broken narrative. These sequences are happening in two furnished mirrored rooms built on the stage, in each of them there is a performer. The light exposes the actions happening inside the rooms, playing with rhythm, and acting as a live video editor.

THE TWOFOLD PARADOX  is a game between perception, memory, and imagination. Taking the audience into a performative-filmic experience, sharing the way we operate in order to engage them emotionally: throughout a playful and mysterious experience we attempt not only to challenge the audience's imagination but also to question, through the exposure of the manipulation mechanisms used in the performance, of how our perception is influenced and guided by media experiences.
